Education System

Admission Requirements
Students need to submit academic transcripts, a valid passport, a completed application form, and a medical certificate. For English-taught programs, no IELTS is usually required; a basic English proficiency is sufficient. Russian-taught programs require students to take a 6–10 month preparatory language course.

    • Engineering/IT: USD 2,000–4,500 per year

Scholarships
The Russian government offers scholarships under the “Open Doors” program and the state quota system for international students, covering tuition and sometimes living expenses.

Language Options
Over 500 Russian universities offer courses in English, especially in medicine, engineering, and economics. However, most local programs are conducted in Russian. Preparatory Russian language courses are available.

Part-Time Work
International students are allowed to work part-time while studying, provided they obtain a work permit. However, income from part-time work is usually limited, so it is best considered supplementary.

Visa Process
After receiving an invitation letter from a university, students can apply for a student visa. Required documents include a valid passport, university admission letter, HIV test certificate, and visa application form. The initial visa is issued for 90 days and extended upon arrival.

Accommodation
University dormitories cost between USD 20–50 per month. Private apartments range from USD 150–300 per month depending on the city. Most students prefer university housing for affordability and convenience.
